Not known to many, there's a quick shortcut from Bamban bridge going to Capas, Tarlac which frees you from the snarl of tricycles, jeepneys and kuligligs along MacArthur Highway. Just take the sharp right turn after the bridge.
It was Laarni's first portrait sitting and we just found out she's allergic to mascara--her eyes were all itchy and she couldn't stop herself from rubbing them. A scene presented itself when the sun cast a double flare on my lens. And thanks to Olympus camera's live view feature, I was able to frame it carefully without risk of an eye strain.
It's not what you think it is. I found these boys caressing the tall grass in the early morning. After a quick inquiry, I learned that they were looking to catch spiders for the traditional game of spider fight (think: Pokemon 100 years ago). I used to find romance in long, bus trips -- the thought of communal dreaming and waking up to one destination laiden with personal meanings and attachments seems poetic. Now, it's just a pragmatic way of getting from Point A to Point B without breaking your P-- (150 pesos vs. 500 pesos 204 pesos x 2 is a definite no-brainer.) However, not long after I took the only seat at the back and my butt started churning with the engine along the expressway, I cursed myself for romanticizing a decade-old middle-class angst. I consoled myself with a view like no other's. Electric Blue.
